1st Prizewinner of the 4th SIMC Piano Section

Vadym Kholodenko was born on 1986 in Kiev, Ukraine. From 1994 he was studying in the Kiev’s special music school named after Mykola Lysenko (Prof. Natalia Grydneva and Prof. Borys Fedorov). At thirteen he won 3rd prize on the V. Krainev’s competition (Kharkov, Ukraine) and next year he took 2nd prize on the V. Horowitz international competition in Kiev. From that time Vadym started to play abroad, made his first appearance in USA, China, Hungary and Croatia.

In 2001 he won 3rd prize on the Liszt international competition (Budapest, Hungary), succeeded with Grand Prix on the Maria Callas’s Grand Prix on 2004 in Athens, Greece. On special Maria Callas’ commemorative concert on one of the best stages of Europe, Herod Atticus theatre, he played first time with orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” (“New Russia”), chief conductor Yuri Bashmet. After that Vadym has rich collaboration with Yuri Bashmet and his orchestra.

In 2004 Vadym was awarded with russian youth national prize “Triumph”.
From 2005 Vadym studied in the Moscow state conservatory in the class of honored artist of USSR, Prof. Vera Gornostaeva.
In 2006 he won 3rd prize on Gina Bachauer international competition.
In 2010 Vadym won 1st prize at Sendai International Music Competition in Sendai, Japan.
In 2011, he won 1st prize at International Schubert-Competition for Piano, and also in 2013 at Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Vadym played recitals and concerts with orchestra in Ukraine, Russia, USA, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Israel.
He collaborated with numerous conductors including Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Spivakov, Mark Gorenstein, Dmitry Liss, Eugeny Bushkov, Alexandr Sladkovskiy.
Also he played chamber concerts and recorded the CD with violinist Alena Baeva in Japan.
Vadym has recorded many CDs including works by Schubert, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Medtner. From 2007 Vadym Kholodenko and Andrey Gugnin founded their piano duet subsequently named “iDuo”. In 2008 they took 2nd prize on the one of the most important piano duo competitions in San Marino and gave concert tour throughout Italy afterwards.

“iDuo” constantly gives concerts throughout Russia. In 2010, CD was released with works by Debussy, Ravel and Rachmaninov under “Delos” label.
