LUO Jiaqing(China)
LUO Jiaqing was born in Hunan, China, 1999. In 2011, he became a student of the Middle School Affiliated to Wuhan Conservatory of Music, studying with Prof. Hu Yang. After graduating from the Middle School Affiliated to Wuhan Conservatory of Music in 2017, he studied piano at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music under Prof. Robert Shannon. He currently studies at the New England Conservatory with Prof. Dang Thai Son.
Jiaqing won first prize at the 2013 Young Artist World Piano Festival Concerto Competition in Minnesota, USA, where he performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 in C minor, op.37 with the Minnesota Festival Orchestra, conducted by Marlene Pauley. Jiaqing got silver prize (Piano Youth Category) at the 2014 CCTV Piano & Violin Competition, first prize in 2016 at the North Coast International Piano Music Festival (NCPF) piano competition, and first prize at the 5th Blüthner Irmler International Piano Competition (2017).
In 2019, Jiaqing won first prize at the Arthur Dann Competition and Rudolf Serkin Competition (Oberlin); he was also awarded fourth prize at the 2nd Fryderyk Chopin Beijing International Piano Competition for Young Artists. Additionally, Jiaqing took first prize at the Young Artists Concerto Competition of Piano Texas, where he performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.2, op.16 with the Fort-Worth Symphony Orchestra and Miguel Harth-Bedoya.
In 2022, Jiaqing claimed first prize at the 8th Sendai International Music Competition (Piano Section). He performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.2, op.16 in the Final Round and Gala Concert with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, under the conducting baton of TAKASEKI Ken.
Jiaqing has given recitals in many locations including Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Hunan, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Sendai. In 2015, he was invited by the Animato Association in France to perform at the Cortot Concert Hall in Paris. In August 2016, he gave a recital at the Fulkerson Recital Hall at Humboldt University, California.
Jiaqing has cooperated with the Sendai Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, China Philharmonic, Wuhan Philharmonic, among others.
